Princess Diana
Childhood
I was born on July 1, 1961, at Park House in Norfolk. My full name was Diana Frances Spencer. I was born into an aristocratic family with Royal blood. My father was Viscount Althorp and my mother was Viscountess Althorp. My parents got divorced when I was 6.
I had two older sisters Sarah and Jane and a younger brother Charles. I lived with my father at Park House, until the death of my grandfather, the 7th Earl Spencer. In 1975, my family moved to the Spencer seat at Althorp in Northamptonshire.

Teenage Years
I went to a boarding school before spending several years at West Heath Public School. I was a really good swimmer. I wanted to become a ballet dancer but I was to tall. I was not bright and eventually failed all my O Levels.
I left West Heath in 1977 and finished school in Switzerland in 1978. The following year I moved to a flat in London. For a while I looked after the child of an American couple, and I worked as a
kindergarten teacher at the Young England School.

Marriage and family
On 24 February 1981 it was officially announced that I was to marry The Prince of Wales. We were married at St Paul's Cathedral in London on July 29 1981, over 1,000 million people watched the wedding. The wedding reception was at Buckingham Palace.
I was the first Englishwoman to marry an heir to the throne for 300 years. I wore a silk dress with a 25-foot train. We made our home at Highgrove House and shared an apartment in Kensington Palace.
I had two sons, Prince William born on June 21 1982 and Prince Harry born on September 15 1984. In December 1992 the Prince and I had agreed to separate.
